Your pet’s measurements are very important for safe, comfortable travel.

For a proper fit, carefully measure and weigh your pet(If applicable).

Carrier/Tote measurment help

Length: is from the nape of the neck (where the collar falls) to the base of the tail.

Height: is from the floor to the shoulder.

Weight: should not exceed maximum weight.

Helpful example: ModaPets.com mascot Pia, a deer Chihuahua/Mini-pinscher, travels in the medium size bag. She is 12" long from the nape of her neck to the base of her tail and 9" high at the shoulder. She also weighs 11 lbs.

She could probably get away with a small, but we wanted her to have plenty of room and be as comfortable as possible while in the tote. She loves it! (click here to see a picture of Pia).

Special Note: Sometimes owners and pets need to compromise on a bag for compactness of size for traveling or for extra space for carrying extra items. We know of dogs that are taller than the carriers that their owners use. Some dogs may not like to be so compacted, please make sure your animal is comfortable in the carrier before taking any "long" trips!

Carrier/Tote size charts

ModaPets recommends no bag larger than a medium size for airline travel!!!(Since all airlines are different and unique, please check with airline prior to date of flight about carry-on size/weight regulations)

Collar measuring tips

Usually a prior purchased collar is a good starting place if you want to measure another collar, but manufacturers vary on measurements depending on a particular product. For your pet's safety and comfort, please measure for a dog collar by measuring your dog's neck. As a general guide, you should be able to fit two fingers (flat) easily between the tape and your dog's neck. Remember, a collar shouldn't be tight around your dog's neck. But, so it doesn't snag on something, it shoudn't be too loose either. A snug fit is what you are aiming for. Not a tight one that chokes.

Alternatively: Use a soft tape measure. Wrap the tape measure around the pets neck snugly, but NOT tight , leaving one fingers room. Take the exact measurement and ADD ONE INCH. This is the smallest size your pet can wear. Remember this number when ordering, use that number as your guide. If you do not have a soft tape measure, use a piece of string and the instructions above. Mark where the end of the string lines up with the string around the pets neck. Lay it out on a ruler to measure. Take the exact measurment and ADD ONE INCH, this is the smallest size your pet should wear.

Puppies grow fast so your first collar will be a starter collar, and we recommend using a quick clip buckle, they adjust to larger or smaller without those in between sizes and you get a little longer use .

Also watch your widths, 3/8 wide is for cats and tiny toy dogs, Chihuahuas, and new tiny babies. 5/8 wide is for small dogs (min Pins, Yorkies , grown, and lots of hair, larger Chihuahua's), and other small 8 week old Labs, Shepard's with lots of fur. 1" wide is for medium sized dogs and growing labs, boxers, etc. Then when your big fur ball dog is grown, get the 1 1/2 " wide to see more of the collar. You do not want a 1 1/2 wide collar for your little Chihuahua, it would weigh as much as your dog.

Clothes measurment help

Measurment for clothesThis sizing chart should be used as a guide to find the best fit for your dog. All breeds as well as clothing styles vary. Keep in mind, it's always best to go up one size if your dogs measurments are bordering on two sizes. The clothing on ModaPets.com is designed predominantly for smaller dogs and may be different than other clothing lines you may own.
